The Nest Bluegrass Blues Celadons - Celadon Coturnix

Bluegrass Blues Celadons - Celadon Coturnix

from $11.99
Sold Out

“Where red meets rhythm, and every egg sings sky.”

There’s a kind of magic that happens when deep red feathers meet the cool hush of celadon blue. Born from carefully paired lines from Southwest Gamebirds and Thieving Otter Farms, our Bluegrass Blues Celadons are bred with intention — bold on the outside, gentle on the inside, and always laying eggs like little pieces of sky.

This collection showcases our Red Range Celadon Coturnix, carrying both beauty and utility. Their feathers echo warm Southern earth — from coppery tones to rich scarlet — while their eggs surprise with a soft, shell-blue tint that catches the light like dew at dawn. Every hatch is like music rising from the land: strong, steady, and full of promise.

Whether you’re deepening your genetic pool or starting your first celadon line, the Bluegrass Blues Collection brings a balance of performance and poetry. These quail carry the celadon gene, passing it forward with consistent reliability while offering standout plumage for any coop or aviary.

Feather Sexing:

Varies by morph. Many in this line are not feather sexable and should be vent sexed at 6–8 weeks.

Classification:

Celadon Layers – Red Range

Average Weight (10 Weeks):

Approximately 10–11 oz, depending on morph and pairing.

Average Egg Size:

12–13.5 grams – lovely blue-shelled eggs with a soft matte finish.

Annual Egg Production:

Up to 260–280 celadon eggs per hen per year

Hatch True %:

This is a developing designer line — expect celadon expression in 75–90% of offspring, with some variability in red tone and feather pattern as we refine sublines.

All eggs are gathered fresh from our hand-raised, NPIP-certified flock in Mississippi. If you're looking for something soulful, striking, and rooted in Southern resilience, the Bluegrass Blues Celadons are ready to sing their way into your flock.
