A Box Full of Magic: Our Special Delivery from Thieving Otter Farm

There are days on the farm that feel like routine, and then there are days that feel like pure magic. Today was one of those days. Our long-anticipated shipment of hatching eggs from Rebecca at Thieving Otter Farm arrived this morning, and the excitement in the air was unmistakable. This wasn’t just any delivery, it was the beginning of something truly special. These eggs represent generations of intentional breeding, love, and care from one of the most respected mentors in the quail world. And now… they’ve come home to us in little ol’ Weir, Mississippi.

We carefully opened the box, and it felt like Christmas morning. Every egg was tucked in perfectly in foam, and the colors were absolutely breathtaking: pale blues, soft speckles, rich tones. It was like holding tiny works of art in our hands. Haven was watching intently, eyes wide with wonder, trying his absolute best to count them all. He’d get halfway through, pause, giggle, and start over. I wish I had caught it on video; his excitement and determination were the kind of joy you just can’t script.

The precious eggs are now resting comfortably before we place them into the incubator tonight. From there, the real journey begins. We are so honored to be part of this ongoing legacy, and we’re putting our whole hearts into growing out these lines with the same care and passion that Rebecca has shown over the years.
